At Quakecon 2019’s big keynote, Bethesda has revealed that the original Doom, Doom II and Doom 3 are getting re-released on modern platforms.
This includes the PS4, Xbox One, and even the Nintendo Switch. Doom includes the Episode IV expansion. Doom II includes the The Master Levels for DOOM II which another 20 levels. Whereas Doom 3 includes the Resurrection of Evil and The Lost Missions expansion packs.
Doom and Doom II are also made available for mobile too, both on iOS and Android. Though the mobile ports are missing split-screen 4-player deathmatch and split-screen co-op.
Except Playstation Store Asia at the time of writing, all the games are now available on their respective storefronts.
Irritatingly enough, Doom required a mandatory login to a Bethesda.net (BNet) account to start playing, despite the game not having any online functionalities. Bethesda has since responded that that was a mistake, and a fix is coming to make the login optional, not mandatory.
Update on our new classic DOOM releases:
The BethesdaNet login requirement was included for the Slayers Club, to reward members for playing the classic DOOM games.
The login should be optional, and we are working on changing the requirement to optional now.
