Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition On Switch Gets A New Feature: Style-Switching On The Go

Jackpot

Devil May Cry 3 is highly regarded as the best games in the character action series, and it’s coming to the Switch. Unlike past ports, Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition not only includes all the extra modes from the Special Edition release, but also an entirely all-new feature.

This feature is style-switching on the go. DMC 3 introduces Dante’s now-trademark combat styles, but it was only in DMC 4 where he gets to switch from the various styles. But now, instead of having to go to the shop statue or wait until the end of a mission to change your styles, it’s just a d-pad tap away.

The four main styles are mapped to the d-pad as follows. The extra two styles unlocked later on requires a double-tap.

  • Trickster – Up
  • Royal Guard – Down
  • Swordmaster – Right
  • Gunslinger – Left
  • Doppelganger – double-tap Left
  • Quicksilver – double-tap Right

Each style augments Dante’s moveset in a different way, with the dedicated style button changes its function for each one. And using each one will level it up to unlock more cool tricks.

The on-the-go style-switching makes the Switch version of Devil May Cry 3 the most definitive edition. It’s a quality-of-life change that is now oh-so present in recent games, even outside DMC like Yakuza 0.

Devil May Cry 3 Special Edition launches on February 20th for Nintendo Switch.
