Cross-save allows you to bring your characters and their gear from one platform to another. It will work on all platforms Destiny 2 will be available- PS4, PC (Steam), Xbox One and Stadia. This is not cross-play, where you can play with friends on different platforms, but you can bring your character to whatever platform you want to play now. Since the base Destiny 2 game, now rechristened as New Light, will be free-to-play on all platforms, you should be able to utilise this feature from the get-go.
That said, there are a few things that are not carried over. Silver, the game’s premium currency, do not transfer over. Expansions also don’t transfer- so if you planning to get the upcoming Shadowkeep expansion keep that in mind. Consult the FAQ as it contains finer details on how cross-save works.
Destiny 2: New Light and the Shadowkeep expansion will be launching on October 1st, so if you need to sort your cross-save data transfers, you can do so really early on.
