Bandai Namco has revealed a new game based on the manga and anime series Death Note.
Death Note Killer Within is a social deduction game (i.e. an Among Us-like) where up to 10 players take on different roles in this game of life and death. The roles include becoming Kira and L, the duelling duo with mind games and very, very long monologues which the Death Note story revolves around.
In Death Note Killer Within, a match can be up to 10 players where they are split in 2 teams and can be of four different roles: Kira, Kira Follower, L and Investigator.
Kira has the Death Note, and must use it to kill L, hidden among the investigators. L must seize the Death Note. The game is won when Kira kills L, or L takes the Death Note from Kira.
The presentation sure is a choice, as it’s presented as a board game, which Kira and L are playing. So most the main gameplay will have you control bobbling pegs as they navigate through a diorama.
But there’s a lot more going on with the moment-to-moment gameplay, which sure looks interesting. How many ways can you kill a person using the Death Note? The trailer shows one can die from getting hit by a truck.
Death Note Killer Within will launch just a week from the time of writing. The game comes as part of November 2024’s monthly PS Plus games as part of PS Plus Essential. So those who are able to play multiplayer games on PlayStation will get a chance to try the new Death Note game out.
Death Note Killer Within will be out on November 5 on PS4 and PS5, and November 6 for PC (Steam) in Asia.
