Toys For Bob, the developers responsible for the Spyro Reignited Trilogy and the new Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, are now shifting their development focus to support the ongoing free-to-play battle royale Call Of Duty Warzone.
This was made public via the Toys For Bob official Twitter:
Earlier reports suggest that as a result, a number of staff from the developer has been laid off. However, Activision has since denied the claim.
Speaking to Gamesindustry.biz, a representative for Activision has said this:
“Reports of layoffs at Toys For Bob are incorrect. There has not been a reduction in personnel recently at the studio.
“The development team is operating fully and has a number of full-time job openings at this time. The studio is excited to continue supporting Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, and more recently provide additional development support to Call of Duty: Warzone.”
We don’t know for sure if this will mark the end of the small revival of classic Activision IPs, which saw Crash, Spyro and even Tony Hawk make a comeback with remakes.
But at least the developers are still around, even if they are now working on keeping the Call Of Duty cash cow alive.
