Control Is Getting Two Paid Expansions Next Year

Remedy’s latest thriller Control is rather good. Sure it has performance issues (which will be addressed), but it’s still impressive. Though expect to see more content coming, with two new paid expansions coming next year.

But first, the free stuff. Photo Mode is expected to drop this Fall- so sometime later this year. There will also be a new mode, Expeditions. Here, Jesse will be assisting Chief Arish on exploring the mysterious Formation, described to be “some of the greatest challenges the Oldest House has to throw at you”. Sounds like a Bloody Palace equivalent, and it will be out in December.

The paid expansions should add a significant chunk to the story as well as add enemies, game mechanics and new locations to explore. The first expansion, The Foundation, has Jesse explore what is under the Bureau- The Foundation. The other is a bit more exciting- titled AWE. This will have Jesse explore the Investigations department and find out more on Altered World Events- AWEs.

Judging by the lead artwork, the AWE expansion may lead to a crossover with Remedy’s older title, Alan Wake. There is a reference to the events of Alan Wake within Control- both being supernatural-themed so it makes sense. But we shall see.

The Foundation will be out in early 2020, with AWE scheduled for a mid-2020 release.

Control is out now for the PS4, PC (Epic Games Store) and Xbox One. While it is not out yet on PS Store Asia, Control will be out in Southeast Asia including Hong Kong and Taiwan, in physical and digital form via publisher Huya.
