Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare Cross-Play Matchmaking Will Be Input-Based

Just like Fortnite

After making a peculiar use of Roman numerals last year, Call Of Duty returns this year with Modern Warfare, which they forgot to put a number on.

Banters aside, the stalwart FPS series looks promising with its new dustier graphics and the promise of cross-play right out of the bat. The series has traditionally been struggling with getting a player base on PC- an issue which was raised in their pre-Battle.net days where the game is on Steam and Microsoft Store which just fragmented the player base.

But if you worry keyboard and mouse players might have an advantage over controller users- good news. The matchmaking will be input-based. Forbes reported that cross-play matchmaking will be doing this, which has proven to work in Fortnite.

You will only encounter a keyboard and mouse player if you partied with a PC player. In this instance, the game will prioritise matching against PC keyboard and mouse.

This should alleviate some concerns over crossplay. PC gamers finally can get access to a bigger pool of players, so long as they play on controllers.

It’s great that more games, now outside the influence of Epic Games have embraced crossplay.

Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) will be out on October 25th 2019 for the PS4, PC (Battle.net) and Xbox One.
