Bravely Default II Reveals New Jobs

Square Enix’s Bravely Default II might be delayed to 2021, but at least we now have new details being shared about what to expect from the Switch-exclusive JRPG.

The job system will return for this numbered sequel. Jobs changes the stats and abilities of your party members, as well as sporting different costumes. Just like the original, you’ll need to defeat specific characters, Asterisk Holders, in order to unlock it for your characters.

Here are the confirmed jobs returning from the original Bravely Default:

  • Freelancer
  • White Mage
  • Black Mage
  • Monk
  • Thief
  • Red Mage
  • Ranger

So far, four new jobs have been revealed for Bravely Default II (five, including the new Vanguard job that appeared in the playable demo). The six newly revealed jobs for Bravely Default II are:

  • Bard
  • Beastmaster
  • Gambler
  • Berserker
  • Shieldmaster
  • Pictomaster

The Bard is your buff daddy- with abilities to boosting the party’s attributes in battles. The Beastmaster can summon monster in fights.

Gambler relies on luck, with a skill that spins the wheel of fortune, or misfortune. The Berserker specialises in axes and are big damage dealers.

Sheildmaster is another job for tanking like the Vanguard, but with a focus on providing buffs to the party. Lastly, Pictomancers brushes the battles with paints and debuffs.

It’s likely there will be more jobs to be revealed as we get closer to the release date (and some to be kept hidden until the game comes out). Bravely Default II will be out on February 26, 2021 exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
