Gearbox Software makes their usual appearance at PAX, this time the digital event PAX Online. They have announced that the looter-shooter Borderlands 3 is coming to next-gen consoles. With a free next-gen upgrade for existing owners.
Borderlands 3 will run at 4K 60fps on PS5 and Xbox Series X (but not Xbox Series S, which can’t go 4K) in single-player, and split-screen multiplayer can be played with three or four players. In addition, vertical split-screen (a community requested feature) will also be coming in a free update, and it will be available for PS4 and Xbox One too.
Save files and DLCs are also transferred over to the next-gen consoles. And we might hear more about cross-play too.
In addition, there will be another DLC coming soon, not included in the recently concluded season pass. This DLC will bring a fourth skill tree for the four existing Vault Hunters. The developers showed a glimpse of FL4K’s new tree, Trapper, which has shield bonuses and a crowd control action skill, Gravity Snare. It periodically toss enemies into the air and slamming down hard, interrupting all attacks in the process. Also, FL4K gets a new pet: a small Hyperion Loaderbot.
Looks like the content will keep on coming to the looter-shooter, even with a new console generation shift. The DLC with the 4th skill tree (and other to-be-revealed content) is coming later this year.
