Good news, developer Pearl Abyss is finally going to release a native PS5 and Xbox Series versions for Black Desert Console, the console version of the long-running MMORPG.
It’s more than four years since the release of the 9th-generation consoles, but at least it’s a free next-gen upgrade. If you own the console versions, you’ll get the upgraded version for free.
But there’s bad news. Once the PS5 and Xbox Series versions of Black Desert Console is launched, support for the PS4 and Xbox One versions will cease.
Pearl Abyss cites “hardware limitations hindering the delivery of the latest content” as one of the reasons why they are transitioning development of the console versions to the current-gen consoles, with the aim to achieve content parity on all platforms moving forward.
The next-gen upgrade will improve performance, and allows the addition of new content like the Ulukita region and the Deadeye class, which console players have yet to receive.
Black Desert Console will transition to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on June 26, so you have a two-months notice to get a new console if you haven’t yet, should you wish to continue playing Black Desert on console.
