Ever imagined a world run by the natural architects that are beavers? In Timberborn, it’s exactly about that. It’s a new city-builder out in Early Access on PC where you get to build buildings for beavers.
The sentient beavers have taken over the world (humans are dead) and can belong to two different factions, each with different buildings, visuals and support different gameplay. You can go full-industrial as the Iron Teeth, or remain in touch with nature as the Folktails.
Timberborn has destructible terrain and water physics and yes, you get to chop wood and build dams as beavers would. And you’ll need to prepare for droughts by providing irrigation, water pumps and reservoirs to ensure food supply remains during the driest of seasons. Wood is the most important resource in this “lumberpunk” game, where you will use wood to make the sophisticated machinery to run your city.
The game features fully simulated beavers, day-and night cycles and an emphasis on building vertically where buildings can be stacked on top of each other.
If you’re itching for a city-builder with terraforming and resource management, Timberborn looks like an interesting take on the genre, which is getting ever-so-many entries this year.
Timberborn is now available on PC in Early Access via Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG.
