Now this is an interesting mash-up. Indie developers Trinket Studios is making Battle Chef Brigade. Inspired by reality TV cooking shows like Iron Chef, this is basically a cooking contest -the annual Battle Chef Royale- set in a fantasy world.
The catch is that the ingredients you need to cook with are out in the wild so you will have to go out and do some 2D beat-em-up action by defeating animals (or dragons), gathering herbs and such to be brought back to the kitchen. You have free reign to decide what to cook, what ingredients to use and how to cook it- it turns to a match-3 puzzle game where you can add and remove special properties to the dish. The dishes you cook will be presented to a panel of judges, to which will decide the victor.
This game just caught our attention recently- it is shown at PAX East currently. Battle Chef Brigade originally was on Kickstarter a few years back, and now it seems the game is taking up shape to a playable version being shown on the show floor.
Here’s an early teaser trailer of Battle Chef Brigade.
Right now Battle Chef Brigade is targeting a 2017 release on PC, Mac and Linux. Also check out the interview on PC Gamer for some more interesting tidbits of the game.
