Looks like Bandai Namco will be the latest publisher to set foot in Malaysia. In a report by Amanz, Bandai Namco has revealed its plans to open a studio in KL.
In a keynote speech at Casual Connect Asia 2016, General Manager, Mobile Department, Development Division of Bandai Namco Studios Singapore, Atsuo Nakayama, announced the plan.
At the moment, no specific location of the office has yet to be revealed, but they are in the process of hiring staff to fill the new positions as the branch will start operations by Q3 of 2016. That would be around July to September.
Interesting to see more gaming studios making their presence in South East Asia, especially Asia. Many studios have branches in Singapore, but to see them coming here should help video games being seen as a big business rather than just an expensive hobby. Bandai Namco has been making roads with capturing the South East Asia market as well, with recent efforts to bring Super Robot Wars OG The Moon Dwellers, a Japan-only series to Asia with English localisation. Interesting to see what this news will entail.
