Do you like turn-based RPGs? Do you prefer them in played in a tactical grid? How do you fancy the anime aesthetic? How about anime girls in tacticool armour?
Malaysian-based indie devs Inverse Atelier has finally announced their upcoming game, Axeras. This turn-based tactical JRPG sees you playing as a young captain commanding the Acorns Company during the Evestrian Civil War.
The reveal trailer features hand-drawn anime cutscenes, Japanese voiceovers and glimpses of the grid-based battle. Think Valkyria Chronicles meets XCOM meets Girls Frontline with a sprinkle of Unicorn Overlord and you’ll get a sense what Axeros is.
Axeros won’t just ask players to make decisions, not just whether how to secure victory, but also moral choices. The Decisions you make will influence how the events of the story including of the Acorns Company. Enemies can either be killed or captured.
Developer Inverse Atelier, a team of ten people led by Zachary “Xenika” Lim, has been established since 2022, though if you look through their socials you would think it’s just an art account that posts tacticool anime girls. It was all leading up to the Axeros reveal.
Axeros is targeting a release on consoles and PC, with a demo to be available in November on Steam.
