Are You Good In Overwatch? Pro Teams Are Recruiting Using Stats Tracking Sites

Earlier this month, top Overwatch team Reunited had to find a replacement due to long-time member 2Easy leaving. The team, who used to play together in Battlefield for Fnatic before moving to Overwatch, were looking for a replacement DPS player. They had tried a few stand-ins before but finally sealed a new member in the form of Kyb, a Genji main who also plays a bit of Hanzo.

According to the Daily Dot, Reunited recruited the 17-year-old British player from looking at his rank in competitive mode. Such info is publicly available on sites like MasterOverwatch and Overbuff. Though Kyb’s discovery were attributed to MasterOverwatch.

Kyb has made a good run with Reunited. His performance at the ESL Atlantic Showdown qualifiers, which they have secured, and the Gosugamers Weeklies, specifically week 15 where they won after getting knocked into the losers brackets really earlier on, have been proven to up par with the rest of the team. Considering him being new to the game while the rest had closed beta access months prior, that’s a major achievement on its own.

With such success, it looks like another established team in the Overwatch pro scene will do something similar. US-based 1Shot is looking for a good DPS player with a skill rating of at least 76 and a link to a Master Overwatch profile. Check out the the tweet below (via Gosugamers) for more details.

With pro teams using stat-tracking sites for recruitment, this opens more opportunities to the route of e-sports for upcoming players who invested a lot of time in the ladders to get good with the game. Local teams who are recruiting to build a team should definitely use the resource as well to locate local talent. Who knows? Maybe we can see a top Overwatch team rising in Malaysia as well?
