Overwatch is seriously attracting big money in the e-sports scene right now. While the ESL Atlantic Showdown is still ongoing with its qualifiers, the finals will be done at Gamescom next month, another huge Overwatch tournament just appeared, with an even bigger prize pool.
ELEAGUE will host the Overwatch Open, will start its qualifiers as soon as today, with the games all being broadcasted on Twitch. Open for NA and EU regions, the top 8 will advance in the regional finals: September 25-26 for NA, and September 28-29 for EU. Winners of each region will face in the grand finals airing on Twitch and televised in the US via TBS.
ELEAGUE has a prominent presence in the CS:GO scene as they have been hosting big tournaments for the FPS game. Overwatch is a new game for the organiser, and they are certainly looking to make a big splash with television broadcasting. EVO recently got the TV treatment, introducing fighting games to the mainstream, proving it to be hype and fun to watch even without much knowledge of the game. Will it be the same for Overwatch? We will see how the reactions will be as the grand finals take place in September 30.
