Well isn’t that cute. Ubisoft announced that the latest city-builder in the Anno series, Anno 117: Pax Romana, now has over 1.17 million players since its release back in November 2025. It’s “an exceptional launch” as Ubisoft describes it.
The milestone has ahead of Anno 117’s first DLC drop, Prophecies Of Ash, which will arrive on April 30.
“We are deeply grateful for the incredible support of our players,” said Stéphane Jankowski, Executive Producer on Anno. ‘Our team remains dedicated, continuously listening to feedback and striving to deliver the ambitious Year 1 content, starting with Prophecies of Ash, sure to keep our fans engaged in cultivating their Roman empire this year and beyond.”
Anno 117’s first DLC, Prophecies Of Ash, will see the Roman empire-themed city builder build on “the largest island in Anno’s history” and it will involve the Roman deity Vulcan and volcanoes. If you don’t know this yet, but the word volcano—fissures that spout hot lava and magma from the Earth, is named after the island of Vulcano which in turn, is named after the Roman god of fire.
And there’s more post-launch content to come as part of the Year 1 Pass. Players get to build The Hippodrome in August 2026, the game’s take on Circus Maximus. In November, Dawn Of The Delta adds a new province in modern-day Egypt where you will be building in the deserts and, well, a river delta.
If you haven’t try the city builder (with RTS elements) yet, Anno 117: Pax Romana will be having a free weekend from April 23-27. Interestingly, there’s also a referral program where current players can get Fame Points for every person they refer to play Anno 117.
The Anno series may not be a big Ubisoft title in the eyes of the mainstream gamer, but the long-running series by Ubisoft Blue Byte continues to garner a strong audience within its niche. Anno 117 is developed by Ubisoft Mainz, part of the Ubisoft Blue Byte studio network consisting of three of the publisher-developer’s German-based studios.
Anno 117: Pax Romana is out now on PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, Ubisoft Connect) and Xbox Series X|S.
