IO Interactive shares a bit of new information regarding what to expect for Hitman 3.
Almost all of the game modes from the previous game makes a return. You can expect to see Elusive Targets, the limited-time challenge where you have little hints to find the target, and a one-shot challenge: if you fail, there’s no redo. This was made famous previously for having the chance to kill Sean Bean.
Elusive Targets will see some changes that will be detailed later.
Escalations return. It’s a mode where you keep doing assassinations on different people in the map, but it gets progressively hard with various restrictions and added security measures at play.
Contracts Mode, where you create your own target, set your parameters and then share it online will continue to be there.
Sniper Assassin is a unique mode where Agent 47 is perched in a sniper’s nest and you’ll have to take down targets. It’s also arcadey where you need to string in combos and find the best score for shooting down targets the right way.
However, Sniper Assassin won’t have two-player co-op anymore. IO is planning to sunset the co-op servers for Hitman 2 before Hitman 3 launches, and will share the solution in regards to multiplayer achievements/trophies.
Also not coming to Hitman 3 is Ghost Mode, the multiplayer versus mode where you’re competing with another player, but you’re not exactly on the same map. Ghost Mode in Hitman 2 will be shutting down on August 31.
The Phantom Suit unlock previously only unlockable via Ghost Mode will be made as an unlockable item you can get in Hitman 3.
So every mode except multiplayer options will be available in Hitman 3. The multiplayer are interesting gimmicks, but maybe not what the developers want to focus on for the next game. They’re experimenting with VR this time on PS VR.
Hitman 3 launches in January 2021 for the PS4 (with PS VR support), PS5, PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and Stadia.
