Acer Nitro 5 Gets A Revision For 2018, Powered By Ryzen

The 2018 refresh of Acer’s entry-level gaming laptop giving AMD some love

At CES 2018, Acer debuted a few new laptops, but the one caught our attention is a revision of the Nitro 5. This entry-level gaming laptop has enough specs to run games at decent settings and for 2018 it is going to receive some design tweaks (there’s carbon fibre patterns everywhere now), but also some big changes inside the system.

The Nitro 5 currently available in Malaysia were first debuted with Intel processors and Nvidia graphics cards, with variants using AMD came later), but the new Nitro 5 is debuting with the red team as its main spec. The Ryzen Mobile processor and Radeon RX560 makes up the innards this time. AMD’s offerings are not known for their strong performance, but they do offer a lower price tag.

Other specs mentioned includes 512GB of SSD storage, 4GB of RAM and a 15.6″ IPS display.

“With performance to effortlessly power mainstream titles, the Acer Nitro 5 houses essential technologies that casual gamers value most,” said Jerry Hou, General Manager, Consumer Notebooks, IT Products Business, Acer Inc.

The New Acer Nitro 5 is set to be priced at $799 USD, roughly RM3,194. Considering the official price in Malaysian markets for the original Nitro 5 hovers around the same region, expect the sleeker refresh to hit a similar price, if not lower, when it reaches here in the future.
