Nacon Revealed A New Test Drive Unlimited Game Is In The Works

Test Drive Unlimited, the long-dormant open-world racing game series that predates genre classics like Forza Horizon or Burnout Paradise, will make a return. Rumours and leaks have been swirling around of alleged Test Drive Unlimited 3, developed by KT Racing and published by Bigben.

But today, a new Test Drive Unlimited game has been confirmed to be in the works.

In an interview with VentureBeat, Nacon’s head of publishing Benoit Clerc have confirmed that they are indeed making a new entry, with KT Racing at the helm. This is the developers behind the official WRC games, among many other Nacon (previously Bigben) published games.

It’s just an off-the-cuff mention, as Benoit is listing all the studios and games under the Nacon banner. But it’s an interesting tidbit. Benoit describes the new Test Drive Unlimited as their “biggest project by far”.

The whole interview is also worth a read, as it talks about the recent rebrand of Bigben to Nacon, and how they are playing in the so-called AA gaming space, compared to the usual AAA and indie titles.

Nacon has a comparatively huge array or racing games coming, all covering various niches, just in 2020. We have strategic off-road racing traversing uneven surfaces (Overpass), a motorcycle game (TT Isle Of Man 2), and the recently announced monster truck sim, Monster Truck Championship. Now we can add an open-world arcade racer into that growing list as well.
