After being announced earlier this year, players were treated to a more in-depth look at the upcoming Souls-like Mortal Shell.
The game has the player inhabiting shells- the game’s playable characters, each complete with their own backstory.
The game’s developers have clarified that these shells would behave similarly to classes, with different shells having different toolsets to help the player through the game.
However, rather than unlocking them all at the start, all four shells would have to be uncovered throughout the course of the game.
Upon death however, the player will be ejected from their shell, where they are reduced to 1HP. The developers have clarified that it is entirely possible to do no-shell runs of the game.
The new trailer also showed off several new bosses, and a more in-depth look at gameplay can be found in an interview with the game’s developers on IGN’s YouTube channel.
Mortal Shell will release in Q3 of 2020 for PS4, XBox One and PC.
