Godfall is the first game confirmed to be coming to PS5, a “looter-slasher” published by Gearbox and developed by Counterplay Games, the folks behind Duelyst.
Apparently, a trailer was leaked on Reddit, first as a few seconds-worth snippet of gameplay. Given that this is the first PS5 game to be announced, it got a lot of attention. There’s also a leak of the full trailer as well.
Counterplay Games have since confirmed that the footage is indeed real, interestingly. Over on Twitter, the Godfall Twitter account revealed that the trailer is over a year old, is based on gameplay running on the PC version and is used only internally.
Hey everyone! We can confirm that the circulating trailer is year-old PC footage used as part of an internal presentation. We are energized by your excitement and look forward to showing you just how far this game has come. Stay tuned for a more detailed look soon! ⚔️

If you feel that it looks a bit rough- it should. This was never intended for external use, so making it look prim and proper was never the intention. And no, this was not our first look at how a PS5 game look like, though it’s not far off.
Good on the folks at Counterplay for straight-up confirming the leak. They sure are excited about the attention the leak brought for the game.
Godfall is coming to PS5 and PC via the Epic Games Store later this year, Holiday 2020.
