The latest game from Videocult, the makers of system-driven survival platformer Rain World, is out now, and if you don’t what it is, you’d be surprised by what it is.
Airframe Ultra, the grungy battle-racer featuring hoverbikes and a dystopian city, is now available on PC. In the streets of Megawest City, players are from the bottom tier of society and with a secondhand Airframe (those hoverbikes as it’s called in-world), will be competing for “fame, fortune, and a chance at glory.”
Airframe Ultra is bringing back the arcade racer feel of the late 90’s where you can smack someone while racing like it’s Road Rash (coincidentally, EA just re-released that title on PC today as well.) The game also features split-screen multiplayer, online multiplayer, and even LAN party support.
However, there is no true single-player mode, which is why the Steam page right now has Mixed reviews. A peculiar choice for an indie racing game, which is already a niche within a niche. Currently a live event is ongoing, with real prizes to be won.
Airframe Ultra looks like a wild mix of Jet Moto and Road Rash, but you better be comfy playing with other folks from the looks of it. The game is out now on PC (Steam, GOG).
