2021 Roadmap For Free Fire International Esports Revealed

Garena has revealed their plans for supporting the esports side of its popular free-to-play mobile battle royale game, Free Fire.

The 2021 international esports roadmap outlines three major international events coming. In April and November, we will see the Free Fire World Series (FFWS) taking place, the game’s flagship international tournament.

Last year, FFWS didn’t take place due to the pandemic, replaced with the Free Fire Continental Series. So this year should mark the return of FFWS. Now with a new logo.

The first of 2021 FFWS, set to start on April 24, will see 22 teams from 13 regions. A prize pool of $2 million USD (roughly RM8.2 million+) is up for grabs, the biggest for Free Fire yet.

Leading up to both editions of FFWS will see the Free Fire Malaysia, Cambodia and the Philippines (MCP) Major. Winners get a spot to represent their country to FFWS.

On the national scale, expect to see Free Fire Malaysia Championships (FFMC) to occur in between the international events.

In July, Free Fire All Stars will take place. This will see a mix of influencers from the Free Fire community and pros duke it out.

Garena sure is committed to grow the competitive scene for Free Fire. And if you’re either a fan or an aspiring player trying to making it into esports, 2021 sure looks like, on paper at least, a promising year.
