Yakuza Kiwami 2’s English Release Out On August 28th

The dragon rises once more

Yakuza Kiwami 2, the remake of Yakuza 2, has been released in Japan last year. The remake, similar to Yakuza Kiwami, brought a lot of changes to the gameplay and graphical fidelity while still being faithful to the original story. However, Kiwami 2 utilises the new Dragon Engine first seen in Yakuza 6 (coming out in English soon).

It has been confirmed by the Yakuza Twitter account that Yakuza Kiwami 2 will coming westward, or rather, released in English for all markets, on August 28th. It will be a PS4 exclusive.

Here’s the announcement trailer:

New to the remake is an all-new scenario where you play as the one-eye madman Goro Majima, filling the gaps between the first and second game of the series.

The recent barrage of Yakuza English localisations started in late 2016 when Yakuza 5 on the PS3 was finally translated. Last year saw the release of Yakuza 0 and Yakuza Kiwami, the remake of the first game. Yakuza 6, the final chapter of protagonist Kazuma Kiryu, is slated for release in March 20th in Asia, and April 17th for US and Europe.

This should put the English versions of the Yakuza games close to the current releases in Japan. The latest game is the spinoff Hokuto Ga Gotoku, A Fist Of The North Star game with a Yakuza twist.
