Firaxis is one of the remaining studios that still sticks to making expansions- bigger chunks of DLC designed to be integrated into the main campaign. The first expansion for XCOM 2, announced at E3’s PC Gaming Show, follows that philosophy by making the war against the alien tyranny much more complicated.
Instead of just battling the ADVENT regime, now you will face the Chosen, elite alien commandos that you will keep on encountering over time and each time you face they will gain more abilities just like your own soldiers. A new neutral enemy type called the Lost (basically zombies) will also appear in some locations that will attack either you or the enemy once spotted. We’ve seen zombies in XCOM, but these come in hordes.
Aside from just more enemies to make you suffer, there will also be multiple factions you can court to gain new soldier types with really interesting abilities. One of them requires you to keep and reserve your abilities to unleash stronger ones, opening more risky situations- play it safe or make a big gamble for a bigger payoff?

XCOM 2 War Of the Chosen will be out August 29 coming simultaneously to the PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
Good luck, Commander.
