Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, the “hardcore action RPG” (read: soulslike) from Chinese developer Leenzee Games will launch this July, with pre-orders now live.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers brings the folklore of the Ming Dynasty and ancient Chinese mythology to life in a more dark tone as you play as the titular Wuchang. Her featherly features is an affliction, and she must now fight supernatural enemies as an ancient empire is about to collapse.
And yes, this is essentially a soulslike. A masocore action-RPG if you will. With dodges, blocks, stamina management and having to deal with bosses with a flurry of attacks. Which has a second phase and a new health bar. Like any respectable soulslike boss annoyingly does.
Check out this gameplay trailer of a boss fight, which highlights a boss fight against the Perfect Bride. Come for the gameplay, but stay for the rocking rendition of what sounds at first was Chinese folk music that turns into something you would vibe to in a mosh pit.
This other new trailer to announce the pre-order handily shoes off the pre-order bonuses, a set of costumes, in-game, so you see Wuchang here in action with all the pre-order and Deluxe Edition bonuses.
More games should do this, showing off the pre-order bonuses through in-game trailers rather than a list you just read through.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is being published by 505 Games, but not for all regions and platforms. The PS5 versions (digital and physical) distributed in Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Southeast Asia is handled by Justdan International Co., Ltd. while the Xbox version (digital and physical) in Greater China is distributed by E-Home.
The game is now available for pre-order on all platforms except on PS Store Asia (PS5 for Asia region).
However, Soft Source announced that pre-orders for the physical version of the game on PS5 for Southeast Asia should be live now, available at participating retailers across the region.
Between this and Where Winds Meet, there are a few big games made in China that shows off the country’s culture. And there’s more premium games made in China for consoles and PC that’s coming out this year.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers will be out on July 24 for the PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store) and Xbox Series X|S. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass subscription.
