Whimsy Puzzler While Waiting Is About Being (Not) Patient In Everyday Life, Releasing This February

Do you like waiting? Indie devs Optillusion is showcasing a mundane slice of life its upcoming game While Waiting, a game about.. waiting.

No, not like in the idle game sense where you can just wait and see numbers go up. But day-to-day waiting like wait in a line, wait for that software update to be done, wait until you can fall asleep, and wait.. until you get born.

While Waiting, “a transformative journey through the art of patience, blending humor with profound life insights” as the game describes itself on Steam, lets you just wait out these boring slices of life. Or let the intrusive thoughts win, press buttons and see what happens. Wacky things happen. And probably will be a longer journey than if you just.. wait.

While Waiting covers the many situations where you simply must have patience, from birth to death. That’s a lot of different slices through one’s life.

It has the spirit of old edutainment games where you can mess about and see silly things happen by doing something you’re not supposed to. And it helps that While Waiting has this charming hand-drawn-like art style with limited animation that makes it all the more goofy and loveable.

Even the trailer is silly, featuring a cat:

Optillusion is the developer behind puzzle game Moncage.

While Waiting will be out on February 5 on PC (Steam) and Nintendo Switch.

If you’re planning to play on PC, while waiting for While Waiting to be out, try out While Waiting’s demo on Steam while you wait. Or just wait for another two weeks.
