Weyrdworks’ desktop pet and cosy idle game Weyrdlets is getting a new free content update. The Fishing & Friends updates adds a new activity for players to engage in: fishing.
Fishing can be done solo or with friends. Caught fish can be traded, eaten or shown off.
The update also expands the playground area, the social area where you can bring your virtual pet to meet others. The new Cozy Cove area lets you hang out by the beach complete with a lighthouse and pier. Small quests can be taken here, or just hang out with friends in a private lobby.
Not only that, players can not only just play with their pet, they can no play as their pet. Take control of your chosen Weyrdlet around the playground and the new Cozy Cove in the new third-person pet mode.
Other new features in the Weyrdlets Fishing & Friends update includes:
- new in-game text chat for multiplayer lobbies
- New NPC- Nessie. Found in Cozy Cove. Trades fish
- New NPC- The Saplings. Found in Cozy Cove. Don’t do much, but it’s a teaser for a new game mode in development
- Emote Wheel
- Mini-games and small quests
- New MiniPets: Biji and Kotak by Malaysian animation studio Hide and Seeds
- New Malaysian-themed items and decorations including tiffin tins, plastic chairs and the Malaysian flag, just in time for Independence Day celebration
The Weyrdlets Fishing & Friends update was previously teased in the first-ever Southeast Asia Games Showcase, part of Summer Game Fest, back in June. The update should go live today.
Weyrdlets is now available on PC (Steam). It’s free-to-play.
