Weyrdlets, the free-to-play idle game/desktop toy/virtual pet game made in Malaysia, is getting its first DLC.
And it’s not an avenue of monetisation.
Developer Weyrdworks is working together with UK-based charity Whale and Dolphin Conservation (WDC) to offer you a whale-shaped cap as well as a “Whale Warrior” badge for your “weyrd” pet to wear.
In return, all the profits from the sale, minus Steam’s cut that is, goes to the WDC in their efforts to protect whales, dolphins and their habitat.
Whether you have a Mochi, a Gyoza or a Wagyu, they all look adorable wearing the funny hat. It even comes with a water spout effect.
The DLC won’t be time-limited, unlike most in-game item offerings in Weyrdlets, so players can chip in for a good cause (and get a funny whale-shape cap and badge) at any time.
The Weyrdlets WDC DLC isn’t live just yet at the time of writing, but it should be available today for $2.99 USD (roughly RM13+).
