Free-to-play action shooter Warframe is coming to Nintendo Switch. The game, developed and self-published by Digital Extremes have continuously been updated since its first PC release in December 2013 and continues to grow even bigger with more players and bigger free expansions.
The Switch port will be handled by Panic Button, specialised and known for bringing games such as Doom and Wolfenstein II’s portable console.
Warframe has similar traits with the likes of Destiny where there is co-op up to four players (and solo play is possible), various weapon and characters with distinct look and abilities- the titular Warframes- to collect and an ever-evolving world. While initially the missions only use procedural-generated levels based on various biomes, updates have even brought a huge open world. Only cosmetics are locked behind paywalls and the grinding required are for the most part fair.
For Switch owners, this is a good title to check out, assuming the port is as good as Panic Button’s previous efforts. No release date has been set just yet.
