Warframe, the free-to-play looter-shooter is getting a whole new CGI intro, designed to hook new players into the crazy world of overpowered space ninjas. At TennoCon 2019, the full CG trailer got a proper reveal.
The trailer was shown at select theaters in the US, but now it is properly revealed, and available in non-shaky cam quality. Have a look here:
The intro depicts the Old War, the time when these Warframe was served as weapons of war before being dormant and then reawakened again at the start of the game.
It’s a nice piece of lore being fleshed out- veterans get to see more context of what the Old War is, and new players immediately get to see the three starting Warframes- Mag, Volt and the poster boy Excalibur- doing their thing. That is jumping, wall-running and killing unsuspecting Grineer soldiers with very bad awareness.
The intro pice is directed by Dan Trachtenberg who has worked on 10 Cloverfield Lane, Black Mirror and is working on the new Uncharted movie. As revealed at TennoCon, he also plays Warframe.
No word on when the CG intro gets implemented in the game for new players, outside of the usual “soon” time window.
TennoCon 2019 saw an extended gameplay demo of the upcoming Empyrean update, plus teasers for The New War cinematic quest and a new open world update called The Divuri Paradox.
