It’s been almost ten years since the launch of Hanako Games’ visual novel Long Live The Queen on PC. And now it’s coming to consoles as well thanks to indie publisher Ratalaika Games.
Long Live The Queen has you play as young princess Elodie. Her mother, The Queen, just met her untimely death, and now you must begin preparing to take the throne by studying and raising skills.
Also, there are assassination plots, looming invasions, civil war, and other schemes that will be set afoot to stop Elodie from living long enough to be crowned Queen.
While the game is presented in a visual novel format, there are RPG elements in which you must ensure Elodie is studying and raising the right skills so that she can pass skill checks.
There are also various choices you can make that can shape the kingdom and what kind of Queen Eldodie becomes (should she manage to survive long enough).
And yes, there are various ways that our sweet little princess can perish should you fail.
If the idea of an RPG-simulation-visual-novel game with cute graphics and black humour be up your alley, Long Live The Queen might be worth checking out. The developer also has teased a follow-up title, but is set in space in the far future.
Long Live The Queen will be out on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch on July 12.
