Unicorn Overlord, the incredible tactical role-playing game by the folks at Vanillaware and publish by Atlus, has reached the milestone of 1 million units sold worldwide, the publisher announced recently.
This includes worldwide shipments and digital sales from all platforms since it’s launched back in March this year, and while they did also pass the 500,000 units sold in the first month after launch, which was referenced in their accolades trailer, for a niche title within the TRPG genre to be reaching the 1 million copies within this year is quite of an achievement.
The game sees players leading the Liberation Army headed by Alain, an exiled prince of the kingdom of Cornia taken over by a power-hungry general, as you try to gather support for your new army, making friends and companions as you try to free the land from the general’s grasps, bit by bit.
And all the while controlling the battlefield using ways that feels like you’re learning to program something using their intuitive systems.
Unicorn Overlord is out now on PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. You can read our review of the game here.
