The Titan Masters Attack expansion released in may is the final expansion for the Transformers TCG, a statement by Wizards of the Coast confirms.
The statement outlines several of the problems faced by the TCG, including low sales numbers as well as the additional challenges from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
While it never rose to Magic: The Gathering levels of popularity, the Transformers TCG did several things to stand out among other TCGs.
For one, there was the fact that several of the cards featured art from prominent fans of the series, for which they were paid. A lot of the support cards art was also sourced from the IDW comics, which has some of the best art in the franchise.
For another, there was the gameplay itself: which robots you got was not limited by your starting hand, as characters were deployed at the start of the game.
However, the game’s irregular card sizes also proved to be quite the challenge, since character cards were much larger, without even counting the large characters like Metroplex who had supersized cards.
