Ubisoft announced that the reboot to RTS series The Settlers is coming really soon, now with a launch date as well as a closed beta.
Simply titled The Settlers, the medieval-ish RTS is developed by Ubisoft Düsseldorf (one of the studios part of Ubisoft Blue Byte) and is taking new inspiration from The Settlers 3 and 4. It’s also built using Ubi’s proprietary Snowdrop Engine, the game engine behind The Division 1 and 2.
The Settlers (2022) see the Elari faction fleeing from their homeland and as such, must settle on new lands. The game will have three different factions (Elari, Maru, Jorn) on launch, each with a different look and playstyle.
The Closed Beta will include access to the tutorial, two of the three playable factions and two Skirmish modes (1v1, 2v2). The Closed Beta will take place on January 20-24, available on the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Connect, with pre-loads starting on January 18.
You can sign up for The Settlers (2022) Closed Beta on the official website here.
The first The Settlers game was released back in 1993 and has spawned seven numbered titles before it went dormant after 2010. So it’s cool to see Ubisoft is still letting the current rendition of Blue Byte continue making games from their legacy IPs.
The Settlers (2022) will be out on March 17 on PC via the Epic Games Store and Ubisoft Connect.
