ASUS is revealing a bunch of new ROG gaming laptops for 2020, and the most high-end, pure gaming of them all is still the ROG Strix SCAR. The 2020 version, ROG Strix SCAR 17, features top-of-the-line, and only top-of-the-line, specs packed in this 17″ laptop.
The striking design from last year’s model, designed by BMW Designworks, is still retained. But as you expected, all the innards got a refresh. 10th-gen Comet Lake Intel Core i9. An RTX 2080 Super. 300 Hz refresh monitor. 2 SSDs in RAID 0 config for faster storage. It’s wild.
Also retaining from last year is the NFC-powered Keystone. Now called Keystone II, it can be customised so it can do various things. From being a literal key required to login, to opening “a secret Shadow Drive for covert storage”, with encryption. It can also sync to the cloud, enabling you to carry over settings from one ROG Stix SCAR 17, to another.

This is some high-end, premium specs for gaming laptop, as it should for the Strix SCAR. No pricing or release date was shared by ASUS Malaysia yet, but we’ll keep you posted.
