The Original Nier Is Coming To PS4, PC And Xbox One As NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139…

The original Nier (NieR) is coming to PS4, PC and Xbox One, 10 years since its first release. And it’s the one that we didn’t get in English.

The original Nier came in two flavours: Nier Gestalt and Nier Replicant. In Japan, the Xbox 360 gets Nier Gestalt, while the PS3 got Nier Replicant. The international release, just called Nier, is based on Nier Gestalt.

The difference here is the titular protagonist. In Nier Gestalt, Nier is an older man with a daughter, Yonah. Whereas Nier Replicant, Nier is Yonah’s brother.

Square Enix isn’t calling this new release of Nier Replicant as a port or a remaster. In true Yoko Taro fashion, this version is called NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139… , a naming convention we saw back in Nier Automata’s DLC where you get a boss fight against the boss of Square Enix. Toylogic is handling the development, with Yoko Taro, composer Keiichi Okabe and producer Yosuke Saito also being involved.

Nier tells a story of a post-apocalypse where Nier is tasked to find a cure to his sister’s disease. What entails is an action RPG with quite a lot of bullet hell elements, plenty of twists and turns and a cast of charming, though some are crude, characters.

Nier Replicant ver.1.22474487139… is coming to the PS4, PC (Steam) and Xbox One, but no release date just yet.
