The Meme Is Real: Paradox Announces Victoria 3

The longest meme in Paradox fandom is now real. Paradox Interactive has finally announced Victoria 3 at PDXCON Remixed.

Victoria is one of the many Paradox grand strategy game series. If Crusader Kings covers the medieval age, Europa Universalis takes place during the late middle ages to the early modern age (or, the times of colonialism) and Hearts Of Iron is set in World War II, Victoria spans the Victorian age- during the Industrial Revolution up until the Great War.

Vicky 3 (as fans have been asking for many years) is developed by Paradox Development Studio. Victoria 2 was released in 2010, and unlike the other grand strategy games, did not get a similar long tail of development and DLC drops. Hence, the many requests of “Vicky 3 when?”

Victoria 3 focuses more on society during an era of massive change. There is a societal simulation aspect where you can keep track of the population’s different cultural, economic and ideological divisions. Bring the revolutionary changes in the era to benefit the people. An economic system where you need to handle import and export goods. And see the map change as cities grow and factories bring out the smog on the map.

Paradox still hasn’t answered the “Vicky 3 when?” question as there’s no release window announced, but knowing that it is indeed in developement should be a boon for grand strategy fans. When it releases, it will be on PC via Steam, and also be available on Xbox Game Pass for PC.
