Japan Race Promotion (JRP), the organisers behind Super Formula, has announced that its latest generation racing car, the SF23, will be coming to Gran Turismo 7 in an update in “late April”.
Super Formula is the premier open-wheel racing series based in Japan, featuring the best talents from Japan and beyond, upcoming and established names, in its grid, which will be made up of 22 cars this year.
The SF23 is the new model replacing the outgoing SF19, already been included in Gran Turismo since Gran Turismo Sport. Toyota and Honda supply power units for the cars, though by the way the promo images are showing we probably won’t see the SF23 available as two different car models like the SF19. The liveried SF23, the Akatora (Red Tiger) and Hakutora (White Tiger) will both feature in the game- both featuring the Toyota Gazoo Racing and Honda Racing Corporation logos, with a livery contest to be held later this year to replicate the liveries of all the Super Formula teams for the 2023 season.
The 2023 Super Formula season will be held on five different tracks around Japan which are Suzuka Circuit, Fuji Speedway, Autopolis, Sugo and Motegi. The first three are available in GT7 right now, with Motegi previously featured in past GT games.
The timing of “late April” for the update tracks with the current update cadence of GT7, which gets a new content update every last week of the month, more or less. For March, five new cars including the Toyota Alphard were added.
Gran Turismo 7 is available now on PS4 and PS5.
