Street Fighter 6’s Story Mode Lets You Hit The Streets In Search For Fights

The June 2022 State Of Play broadcast got a big showing for the latest entry to Street Fighter. Street Fighter 6 shows off a new logo, reveals two more playable fighters, and interestingly, a new kind of single-player story mode.

Capcom is adding World Tour mode. This is described as “an immersive single player story mode”. Instead of the usual fighting game story mode as perfected by the latest Mortal Kombat releases, World Tour will let you roam the streets of what seems to be Metro City as your player avatar.

There are some traversal and exploration mechanics, and more importantly, you can challenge people to fights. On the streets. You know, since you are a Street Fighter.

Whether this is a good change or not, we will have to wait and see.

World Tour is being described as one of the three big modes in Street Fighter 6. There will also be Battle Hub, which from the looks of it is this game’s version of an online lobby that’s more than just menus, as seen implemented in games such as the Guilty Gear series. The traditional content, features and mode you expect to find in a fighting game is housed under Fighting Ground mode.

Also, side note, after being memed on for its simplistic logo, the Street Fighter 6 logo got a makeover.

Street Fighter 6 will be out in 2023 and will be available on PS4, PS5, PC (Steam) and also on Xbox Series X|S.
