Steam Spring Cleaning Event Encourages Players To Clean That Growing Backlog

It happens to all of us

Now this is something unexpected. Rather than the usual sales on Steam, which has lost its luster a bit after they stopped doing flash sales and the many crazy activities encouraged, it is encouraging players to clean that growing backlog. Players buying games and then proceed to never touch it is something common, maybe too common that Valve wants to help people out with this issue.

From May 24th-28th, the Spring Cleaning Event will have trophies to collect for doing daily tasks. It could be playing a game available as a free weekend deal that Steam now clearly highlight, play a random game from your library as suggested by Steam or start clearing your backlog by playing a game you own but never touch. These tasks can be completed daily. There are also long-term “projects” which also share the same theme of exploring your backlog.

The games that are on the free weekend is as follows:

  • Dead By Deadlight
  • Cities Skylines
  • Don’t Starve Together
  • Dirt 4
  • Left 4 Dead 2
  • Tyranny
  • Borderlands 2
  • Middle-earth Shadow Of Mordor
  • Castle Crashers

There is still a store-wide discount going on as well, just not as upfront this time. So dig your wishlists if you are looking for some good deals this weekend. But think about that backlog before adding more to that list this Steam Sales.
