Here’s an interesting new indie/indie-style game to put on your radar.
Gift is a side-scrolling adventure game that takes place on a cruise ship. A sinking cruise ship. You will have to be on the move as not only will the flood rises, the ship also tilts and shakes, making the environment something you must navigate through carefully.
But you’re not alone. Onboard the ship in Gift are various passengers which you can get to know and help. You’re not fighting anyone it seems too, but there are puzzles that requires you to interact with the ship’s many curios.
Interestingly, Gift is not framed as a tense escape game, given the dire situation of a sinking cruise ship. The trailer has a melancholic tinge with its music, giving it a calming, sad vibe. Gift promises “a heart-warming story” as you figure out what is going with this sinking ship. Multiple endings are available.
This puzzle action adventure game is developed by Japan-based studios Toydium and Million Edge. The game is co-published by them together with Bushiroad. Yes, that Bushiroad, the publisher behind various card games and idol-based gacha games.
Gift releases on May 8 for the PS5, PC (Steam), Xbox Series X|S and Switch.
