Who says gamers never give back? The speedrunning community surely does. Summer Games Done Quick (SGDQ) is part of a bi-annual speedrunning event where gamers blaze through various games super quick all in the name of charity.
The summer edition of the event saw an interesting selection of games old and new being completed at ridiculous speeds. Some requires the use of exploits and glitches while some had to rely on sheer luck and heavy memorisation.
The games in SGDQ 2017 includes Final Fantasy VII (beaten in less than 8 hours!), The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, Dark Souls III, Tetris: The Grand Master, Mega Man X and Half-Life.
While all the action unfolds, spectators are encouraged to donate to the stream, which will are sent to Doctors Without Borders, a medical humanitarian organization that provides aid in nearly 70 countries.
This year marks an increased number of total cash raised for the charity: $1,760,400 USD, as per the statement from the Games Done Quick’s Twitter.
With a current cash total $1,760,400 we absolutely destroyed our total from SGDQ of last year! Amazing job everyone! #SGDQ2017 pic.twitter.com/dyMPZhnbmF

It’s a remarkable achievement for the speedrunning community and gamers in general.
