How many ways can you create a chaotic co-op multiplayer game like Overcooked? Plenty of ways, apparently, and this flavour is definitely our favourite so far.
Speed Crew is developed by Wild Fields, an indie developer team and sister company of N-iX Game & VR Studio. The game tasks up to 4 players to be part of a pit crew, helping the team to win by servicing the car in a timely manner.
But don’t expect to do blistering F1-style pitstops where it averages under 5 seconds these days. Oh, nothing like that. Expect to fumble and bumble about the pitlane like the Mercedes F1 team at the 2019 German Grand Prix, but even sillier.

And you’re not just doing simple tyre changes either. Changing a tyre can be a whole 5-step process. And you might even have to change the whole engine- yes the whole motor block needs to be raised up. So this is definitely not your standard weekend grand prix you’re participating in.
You do get to whack cars with a hammer to fix body damage, which is entirely lore-accurate.
There is a story mode in Speed Crew which features the character Dominion Torrento (heh) as the team competes in four racing championships from the 70s up to the 00s.
Expect a lot of cheeky references for fans of cars and racing. There are the usual puns, the team names in the screenshots include Jiliams Grove Racing and McFlaren Team. And there’s this one team called Furious Family Concern, which along with Mr. Torrento, has to be a nod to the long-running Fast & Furious/Wild Speed movie series. And the fictional cars all have silhouettes and features that will remind you of some iconic GT race cars of the past.
Speed Crew will be launching first on Nintendo Switch on June 8. The game is also coming to PS4, PS5, PC (Steam), Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S later in Q3 2023 (July at the earliest).
