Sega revealed a new entry to the Sonic The Hedgehog series is releasing later this year at the January 2024 State Of Play broadcast.
Titled Sonic X Shadow Generations, this is a “dual title collection set” rather than a full new sequel to Sonic Generations.
Sonic X Shadow Generations will include a Sonic Generations (with new quality-of-life improvements, better visuals and new gameplay elements) plus the all-new Shadow Generations, featuring Sonic’s edgelord rival, Shadow The Hedgehog as a playable character.
Sonic Generations, released back in 2011 for the PS3, PC Xbox 360 and the Nintendo 3DS, was a refreshing blend of old-school side-scrolling 2D Sonic and modern 3D platforming Sonic. Modern Sonic teams up with Classic Sonic to restore the world.
The new Shadow Generations game is set in a new different timeline. Shadow will meet up with his nemesis Black Doom who seeks world domination. Expect to see and learn more of Shadow’s powers, his past, and what drives him to glide-skate so fast.
Sonic X Shadow Generations will be released sometime in Fall 2024 (Q4 2024) for the PS4, PS5, PC (Steam, Epic Games Store) Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
