Last week, SNK teased that they will be making a new game announcement. The announcement was then made in Sony’s Pre-Tokyo Game Show (TGS) Playstation Lineup Tour presentation where a new Samurai Shodown made an appearance.
Known in Japan as Samurai Spirits and globally as Samurai Shodown (without the “w”), it is a 2D fighting game with swords. This new title, simply titled Samurai Spirits (Samurai Shodown worldwide) is the first for the series to move away from 2D sprites. However, it is now running on the Unreal Engine.
The new look when King Of Fighters XIV moved to 3D had lukewarm reception but Samurai Shodown looked sharper than ever. Many characters from the past games are returning. Gore and blood will also be appearing in this title.

Samurai Shodown has yet to confirm any other platforms outside of the PS4, but it will be out sometime in 2019.
