Rising Thunder: Community Edition Is Now Available For Free

Nobody expected a wakeup DP from a cancelled game

When a still-in-development game is cancelled, it’s gone for good. So to hear that Radiant Entertainment is willing to hand back what remains of Rising Thunder to the community is astonishing to see.

The fighting game with simple inputs (while retaining most of the depth) was in open beta before the developers were bought by Riot Games, the team behind League Of Legends. Rising Thunder was then cancelled.

The community edition includes the game client, as it was when we last saw the game live, bugs and all. The UI is still rough though the source code is made available for tweaks. The server code is also made open source, with some slight adjustments for the community to easily get it running again.

Radiant also bundled in some extra goodies in the form of concept art, early videos, and even bits of the lore planned for the game.
