PS4 Update 4.50 To Add External HDD Support, Custom Wallpapers And More

The upcoming firmware update for the PS4, version 4.50 and codenamed “Sasuke” is now in beta. Those who opted into the beta can now download it and give it a whirl before it will be officially available soon.

The big highlight here is the upcoming support for External HDD. The original PS4’s 500GB is pretty meagre nowadays as games can reach 30GB of size and more. Add that download speeds for PS4 not being that great and you have a major storage problem really quick. While you can just upgrade the internal hard disk easily, having it supporting external drives make it even more easier to upgrade your storage. Just plug a USB 3.0 HDD (which may or may not be something you have already, unlike an internal one) and it should work. It will support up to 8TB of size.

Other than that, the post in the Playstation Blog adds Custom Wallpapers, where you can use any in-game screenshots as the background image, seen in the feature image above, and improvements to both the quick menu and notifications list.

There are a few other features as well to look forward to, so check the post for more info.
