In the PlayStation Showcase 2023, Sony confirmed the existence of Project Q, a handheld device with an 8-inch screen LCD display and all the buttons and features from a DualSense controller, to play PS5 games.
The device works via Remote Play, where it streams the gameplay running on a PS4 via Wi-Fi connection.
There were rumours of this device swirling out before, so now we have an official look of the hardware, which looks like an elongated DualSense controller with a giant screen attached in the middle.
This isn’t a fully dedicated gaming platform- so it’s no PSP or PS Vita. Its for those who want the comfort of playing PS5 games anywhere in their home without actually be in front of the PS5 setup and away from the TV. It’s like the one cool trick the Wii U was good at.
It would be interesting to see how many folks would want such a device, given its limited use case. But here it is, Project Q, which should get a new name when it’s closer to launch later this year.
In addition, the showcase also revealed PlayStation wireless earbuds.
